Garfield's Halloween Adventure was terrifying to me as well. Especially the scene where Garfield and Odie are hiding from the ghost pirates.

A local channel in St. Louis (where I grew up) would occassionally show uncut movies (accidentally, I assume) late at night. I saw this movie, Equinox, one night and it absolutely scarred me. I came across a videocassette of it years later and it's pretty laughable. Turns out it was an early cinematic endeavor by Dennis Murren (I think) with lots of charmingly clumsy stop motion.

I first watched ET when I was 4, which was a huge mistake. I'm still scared of the f**ker.

I saw Rock N Rule when I was 6. Mok kinda scared me. That's all I got. Although I was watching horror movies at that age.

The Twilight Zone movie has been mentioned a couple of times already and still no one has mentioned the "Do you wanna see something really scary" bit with Dan Aykroyd and Albert Brooks. Go figure, those two guys being involved in a scene I thought was one of the most upsetting things I'd ever seen up until that point.

Actually, Zelda was played by a guy, Andrew hubatsek because they couldn't find a girl skinny enough for the roll

I still say Pet Cemetary is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, and Zelda always freaked me out terribly.
You ever see this video, there's a real life "Zelda" out there. (Warning: This is incredibly creepy/disturbing) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISBeBuVKXL0 Try not to tap out before the last minute, because that's the craziest part.

I did not know that! I would think they could find hundreds of women too thin to play that - but eh. Thanks for the info x

There was some film (maybe a short?) that I picked up from the library as a kid that involved a zombie/vampire turkey. I think it was a comedy.
It scared me to tears. |

Yes - it flashes in quickly a couple times.

The problem is, aside from all that beauty, you're not very interesting. You're rude, you're hostile, you're sullen, you're withdrawn. I know you want someone to look past all that at the real person underneath but the only reason anyone would bother to look past all that is because you're beautiful. Ironic, isn't it? In an odd way you're your own problem. |

It comes in during the scene where Demi is dreaming of his mother, running towards her on the street. If I'm not mistaken it comes in at the moment she starts descending the subway steps.
The image also ends up being used later on, being superimposed over the face of Regan during the Exorcism. |

Yep. It's been a while, but I believe the first is when Regan's mom is in the kitchen, where it flashes over the pantry or fridge..something like that. The second is during the exorcism, where I believe it appears over Regan's face. I found them to be the scariest moments of the film. They use those flash techniques in Exorcist III, and again, those are the moments that haunt me from that film.
Edit: I believe the above is also correct. It does flash during that dream sequence. So it is shown at least three times. Last edited by uniform; 01-19-2013 at 12:17 PM. |

I only had one, and I posted it after reading an interesting blog.
[Spoilers] One thing I don’t quite understand is following Merrin’s death, when Karras returns to Regan’s room, the demon seems almost giddy. Is the demon pleased with knowing this result would upset Karras, or was it just trying to fool Karras into thinking this was the outcome the demon wanted/made happen? His reply uniform, thanks for your comment. Actually, the demon did not want Merrin to die (this is from the novel) – when Merrin accidentally dies of a heart attack, the demon is furious, yelling at the corpse, “You would have lost”, i.e., he should have lived to see Regan die of being possessed. Instead, Merrin, from the demon’s viewpoint dies too early, before the demon can humiliate him by killing Regan in front of Merrin’s eyes. Therefore, I think the giddy laughter in the film is just to infuriate Karras. In the novel, there is no giddy laughter, but rather one final obscene remark directed to Merrin’s corpse, which infuriates Karras and propels him to attack the demon.
