I have actually never since the early-year switch-over been able to figure out how to change my "location". Anyone have any tips on this..?

Well, up until apparently just now, I haven't been able to access my profile or PM's through Chrome. But I just checked and it does look like that's working now. So aside from there being a slider at the bottom of every page for some reason, everything is hunky dory.

Red, you should be able to change your avatar. What specific error messages are you receiving, if any? And what browser/OS are you running?

I'm using Firefox and there's not an error message, there's just not a "Make this my profile picture" option to click. There's only a "delete picture"

When's the last time you updated Firefox? I have a recent one (3.6.4) and I can change pictures with no problem. Except for the fact that it takes between 5 minutes to an hour for the next avatar to appear next to my posts.

I just updated the player and uploaded the pic. Hopefully it'll show up at some point.

What I had to do with Chrome was clear the cache and reset the browser and now my new avatar shows up. So maybe you can try the same with Firefox.

50kb for an animated gif is unacceptable. The whole point of a gif is to allow for a full animation of multiple pictures in one - a 50kb limit means you're looking at a 100x100 image with maybe 5 frames. It's not like we spam the hell out of threads with animations, so I'm not sure how this is the best way to save bandwidth.

The comments have never been good about the forum's server but this time it seems to have had a real effect on the flow of people here.

I get the" gateway timeout" a lot lately or "not able to commincate with the host's server" error messages.

Really? I haven't gotten a single gateway timeout since the migration.

And yeah, it kind of sucks that we can't have animated avs anymore, but I think some people are overreacting. Animated avs were really cool, but it's not like not being able to have them makes posting harder, or that suddenly our posts suck, or we can't talk about movies the same way as we used to.

I usually uncheck "Active Logins" and "Site Preferences".

Change the time range to Everything.

Hit Clear Now.

Restart Firefox.

Profit.

Here's an idea: focus more on writing something useful and less on impressing us with your avatar.

Seems as good a place as any to ask this... is there supposed to be an option in your profile for 'edit avatar'? The help page said there was, but who knows how many years ago that was made. All I see is profile pic, but that naturally doesn't do it.
