Right now I'm listening to the James Drake mixtape a lot. I kind of was into Drake back during his mixtape period but this is an excellent mash-up. Mostly Blake's beats melded with Drake's hit songs.

Personally I really love his first album but I think he was a little too ambitious on his second record. I love that he's doing something a little different though and people are liking it. He's a Kanye protege isn't he? He's got the talent for sure.

Thanks for telling me what I do and what I listen too. Just because I don't listen to the radio myself doesn't mean that I'm not around other people who do or out and about in which I hear it. I CHOOSE to not listen to it because I don't like that type of music and I have access to the music I LIKE. I made this thread to talk about hip hop music not to have someone troll my every post with their dumb comments.

I don't do drugs either but thanks for the insinuation.

That's the way I feel about the Death Grips album -- I can't listen to a whole album of a guy literally screaming at me (whatever the genre) and only a few of the songs work on their own: "Lord of the Game" or "Takyon".

Can't argue with that. Diff strokes in this case.

Aesop feels as if he doesn't have anything to say anymore. Every album he gets less and less impressive. Great beat-makers but the man himself is losing his edge. I gave him and Rob Sonic a hug last year at a music festival

It's a shame Finally Famous has such great production, because Big Sean is such utter trash. I could understand how someont thinks Drake, Lil Wayne, or even Wiz is talented, but I just don't see it with Sean. His flow is Drake done poorly, and lyrically he's an abomination.

I hate this generation of generic 'heartfelt' while being braggadocios rappers like Drake, Big Sean, J. Cole, Cyhi Da Prynce, XV, etc. etc.

Wait, what? I'm pretty sure The Weeknd uses it. Frank Ocean uses it. Drake still uses it. Katy Perry uses it. Taio Cruz still uses it.

And that's just off the top of my head of both emerging(Weeknd/Ocean) and actively mainstream pop artists that are still using it. Saying it's two years out is...well...that's just not true. Unless one is assuming that Jay Z's "DOA" actually did what he wanted it to do. Which it didn't.

I like smaller threads that stay focused on one topic. If you lump all music together then you have to click through pages and pages of music to find the type of music you like and want to comment on.
