It's my favorite comedy on TV.

It's a shame that Family Guy can get a Best Comedy Emmy nom, but Archer can't.

Wait it didn't get nominated but Family Guy did? Are you fucking with me? How is it possible that Terms of Enrampagement didn't get nominated?

Does anyone else think this is H. Jon Benjamin's best voice performance? He's great at laid-back slackers, but Archer is a more energetic, active douche-canoe, and as a result Benjamin sounds more focused in his intensity and humor.

Am I alone in this? (Woot! 2,000 posts!)

I agree that H Jon Benjamin was born to play an arrogant, intelligent douche bag. I mean, McGurk is a great role, but he has a sweet center coated by awfulness. But Archer is bastard-coated bastard with a bastard nougat center.

I think his best performance is in Family Guy. I'm not a big fan of the show in general anymore, but if you had a show that was just H Jon Benjamin and Seth Green talking about ****ty movies, I would watch that for forever.

That being said, yeah, his Archer performance is pretty fantastic. But everyone on the show is pretty fantastic. Gotta step it up. He's not hanging out with Brendon "I Put the Guitar Down Long Enough To Do A Couple Voices" Small anymore.

"Like, a big, sweaty fireman carries you out of a burning building, lays you on the sidewalk and you think, "yeah, okay, he's gonna give me mouth-to-mouth", but instead he just starts choking the shit out of you, and the last sensation that you feel before you die is: he is squeezing your throat so hard that a big, wet, blob of drool drips off his teeth and just, flurp, falls right onto your popped-out eyeball."
".............What the shit?"

Yeah, you can't watch just the second season of Frisky Dingo. By that point the show is, like, 90% call backs. My brother was in the room while we were watching one of the last episodes of the first season, and he'd never seen an episode, so, like, half the jokes were just "wait? What? Why is that funny?"

See, I would watch a show like that... in live action, whereas my dislike of Family Guy beats the awesomeness of that idea in animation.

And yes, everyone on the show is great, but Benjamin clearly leads the show from an acting perspective. Frankly it's amazing how much chemistry everyone has since I don't think they record together.

Hell, the guest stars are wonderful too, from Kathryn Cressida and Rene Auberjonois' crazy Russian assassin pair, Coby Bell's Conway Stern, Maggie Wheeler's Trinette, Ron Perlman playing hilariously against type as a gay Cuban spy, Jeffrey Tambor's Len Trexler, Rachael Harris' Rona, Charles Napier as Archer's dumb-ass cancer doctor, and in this season we get Patrick Warburton and David Cross!

I always feel like George Coe as Woodhouse never gets enough credit. Coe has that stiff-upper-lip British butler quality, but also that tinge of insanity that comes out in moments like when we learn he's still a heroin addict, or when he killed and scalped 50 German soldiers in reaction to Reggie's World War I death.

Archer: Woodhouse! What are you doing?!
Woodhouse: Uh, sitting down, sir.
Archer: What, at the table?!
Malory: Sterling.
Archer: Like people?!
Malory: Sterling!

It's going to be an itchy weekend.

Easily my favorite Archer line read is his response to the scalps. "That's a lot of scalps". Just that perfect combination of surprised/scared. Makes me laugh out loud every time, even though I've seen that episode over and over.
