8th grade, one of the worst years of my life. Bittersweet symphony, indeed.

I'm sorry to hear that man. My teens were some of my best years. Discovering the wide world of film, losing my virginity, listening to NIN and Wu Tang until 4 am on a school night, hanging out with my best friends when we all still lived close together, playing videogames 24/7 without worrying about bills, thinking I'd live forever, and having ridiculousness goals.

That video just proves there's always been horrible music.

This did the trick for me today. It's a spec sketch riffing on Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

On the contrary, I thought that video showed how much better 90's music was than the current top 30 hits. Not great, mind you, but infinitely better.
Then again, I was 8 that year, so the nostalgia might give my earbuds a sweeter sound than yours. |

It was definitely a trip down memory lane though...some of those songs I haven't heard in years. I mean...Robyn? I remember my buddy playing her CD to death that year, cranked while cruising around town. To be in my early 20's and stupid again...but this time single...sigh....

The top 30 of 2012 would have... what, maybe one or two talented musicians? Adele, maybe? |

The charts aren't as reliable in this day and age for what's "popular," or "cool," so much as they used to be. They show what's popular in more specific demographics nowadays.

Junior year of high school for me. Listened to a lot of that MOR alt rock that was popular at the time and that swing revival sh-t.
Personally, that was my favorite year of high school for me which isn't saying much since most of my classmates were douchebags and frenemies. |

Me too. Not about the age (I was 25) but about hating that song.

Oh god I was 28 in 1998. Sigh... I had been married for 7 years by then. Seems like yesterday... kinda.
I am VERY guilty of really liking a lot of those songs - including Everybody by the Backstreet Boys! (love that clip too) I always remember it from one of the guys who is sitting on the floor while everyone else dances in that group routine near the end of the clip. Always wondered why.

That's Sledge Hammer. I'm guessing you weren't watching television in the late eighties?
