I was born in 1955 and saw the original release of A Christmas Story in theaters. As I only recently found out that the original took place a good 10 years before I was born, I found it interesting that the events in the film could have easily taken place a good 15-20 years later, during my childhood. From the preview (which I regret watching), this is just a rehash of the best that that film had to offer, imitated ad nauseum. I won't have my childhood raped by watching any part of this film - and will avoid any further trailers like the plague.

I love the original, but I really don't know if it is genuine or just because that movie was fu*ked into my brain growing up. My gut says it was genuinely good stuff, but if ever there was a movie whose repeat airings could be considered brainwashing, its a Christmas Story.

The worst thing they ever did was the 24 hour marathon of the movie during the holidays. 24 hours of the same anything would get downright obnoxious.
