Can anyone recommend a good horror film featuring the doppelganger concept?

Just finished re-watching one of my fave horrors of the last decade, Lake Mungo, and was curious to know of any other worthy films to check out featuring doppelgangers. It seems to be a piece of supernatural folklore that isn't used as often in film.

Feel free to talk about Lake Mungo as well. It really is one of the best films to come out of the After Dark Horror series, which to be fair, has a lot of crappy releases.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa made a film about Doppelgangers. Not sure how good it was, but it's Kiyoshi Kurosawa

Blarg. Did not know that was what Lake Mungo was about. Now have totally forgotten what I was going to recommend. Guess it's time to sit down and watch Lake Mungo finally.

Well, it kind of spoils the film, but:

and Dead Ringers.

Wait- does a doppelganger have to be a ghost??

Not exactly a horror but Single White Female kind of is, sort of, but not really.

They Live
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the 50s version and the 70s version, even the faculty was ok, the Invasion sucked)
The Thing
The Astronaut's Wife was good, but it did fall apart end the end.

I think Lost Highway should qualify.

I know The Dark Half would, if it weren't so awful.

Possession by Andrzej Žulawski.

David Lynch's Lost Highway and even Mulholland Drive could also count.

It's not a movie, but the episodes of Supernatural Skin (1.6) and Nightshifter (2.12) both feature the concept and both are done very well.

Monster Movie (4.5), Two and Half Men (6.2) and a few others also features the concept, but these episodes don't focus on it the way Skin and Nightshifter do.

Lake Mungo is amazing. I would definitely not consider the movie spoiled just from Marv mentioning the doppelganger idea. The movie has so much going on, and is so rich in character and plot, that that little tidbit shouldn't hurt your viewing experience.

Right now Lake Mungo is the movie I'm cheerleading the most. I think it's criminally underseen and probably the best fake documentary style movie I've ever seen in terms of sheer believability.

You will also feel like you're watching a whole new movie the second time around.

Thanks Takoma...I did wonder if I was spoiling the movie, but that plot point is not the focus of the film, and the film itself offers so much more. If I had caught this movie on PBS one evening I would swear it was a legit story about this Australian family.

I just love it to pieces!

And I'm serious about watching it a second time. It will really make you appreciate how well the movie was put together and it adds a whole other level of nuance to basically every scene, especially some of the interviews with the parents.

Last night was my second viewing, and I did like it even more. And I got really tense as that one scene approached...*shivers*
