ParaNorman is flopping so hard right now UGH.

$83M budget with 3rd week(?) box office receipts currently amounting to $ 66M. Ugh

If there was one movie I would love to be a financial success, it would be this one (I had watched it three times already in gorgeous 3D). The amount of creativity and sophistication invested in this compelling and hilarious feature is rarely paralleled nowadays, it's absolutely shameful that movies of poor quality like Adam Sandler (no offense to him) movies (i.e Just go with it, grown ups) have earned much more than this film fine.

If you have time, please see this film before it disappears from the theater, you will not be disappointed.

It's just been released today in the UK and until January it will keep getting released all over the world. Along with DVD sales, it should at least break even. Halloween release for the US might have helped.

Good to hear that Paranorman has yet to be released all over the world. And I don't think it will be a wise choice for ParaNorman to be released at Halloween in conjunction with Frankenweenie and Hotel Transylvania, it does not have a significant pull over its competitors.

Has not been released in Australia yet - and I really think it will work here. Think they are releasing it around school holidays which should do well. It's one of the VERY few movies I'm actually going to the cinema to see this year!

Although I loved the movie, the trailers didn't really do anything to get me excited about seeing it.

I loved this freaking movie so much. Even though he's only in the film for a little bit, John Goodman's voice acting was one of the greatest things ever.

It could very well take the Oscar for animation. Great film.

Sucks that it's not doing so well. With Coraline and now this film under its belt, Laika is an animation studio that I would love to see produce more stop-motion animation.

Great film. I loved it even more on a second viewing.

Wait until the foreign grosses and DVD sales come in before you call it a flop. Besides there's only one stop-motion animation film that broke 100 million (Chicken Run). Numbers 2-5 on that list range from 75 million to 53 million, so we're not talking about the most lucrative film format anyway.

My favorite animated film since toy story 3. i want to see it a 3rd time. They released it at the worst possible time (the time where kids go back to school)

Why didn't they release it in October? That seems like a no-brainer.

Well if it was playing anywhere, it'd be easier to see. I live in a rather large market, and it's hardly playing anywhere anymore.

Probably because Hotel Transylvania and Frankenweenie already had the lead-up to Hallowe'en covered.

I think Paranorman should've been released a month earlier, though I suspect the reason it got dumped in late August in the first place was that 3D screens were already booked solid in July.

Did anyone see Pirates: Band of Misfits? I really enjoyed it - to be fair it's no Chicken Run or Wallace & Gromit - but still very funny and nicely done. Much better than Flushed Away - which suffered from NOT being stop animation.

^ I saw Pirates: Band of Misfits, probably the weakest film I've seen this year, though I really haven't seen much and it was still a solid 7.5/10.

Rented it on Redbox this week. Pleasant surprise of the year for me.

Saw most it, was not expecting what I got. Trailer does nothing to sell it.

It was released at the end of August into one of the slowest box office periods of most years AND in recent memory. I don't recall seeing a single poster or TV spot for it. I'm sure it's delightful, but it not being a huge success is hardly shocking.

It's sad to see it flop, as I'm a huge fan of stop-motion animation, but the movie wasn't very good. I still wish it would have made some bank though.

The movie is so damn quotable.I loved the score accompaniment especially the confrontation scene as well. Sadly the score played during the confrontation scene - which is reminiscent "death is road to awe" - is not listed in the soundtrack.

The last animated film that had a profound impact on me was Wall-E and I rarely like a film as this much as paranorman; it's my current favorite movie.

What? How on earth do you think it wasn't very good? What are your complaints? What could you possibly have a problem with in a movie that is so...well, perfect? I know I like never agree with you, but this still shocks me.
