I made a thread about the movie "Ted" a while back.

I questioned why this film made so much money. Apparently its really great and deserved every penny.

No, it did not.

A fairly strong first hour. The last third was some of the most excruciating bullsh*t I've ever allowed myself to sit through.

So again...I ask, How the F did this movie make 200 million?

btw.. What a treat it must have been for the Asian community!

By far the funniest movie I've seen in 2012.

Translation: you fail.

I really am curious. Were there 15 year-olds going to see this every weekend?

Maybe it was the bear eh?

Mila looked like a tramp and Walberg is a doofus.

I smell scientology....

too soon?

thats my biggest issue with this place. nobody can come up with a retort...

this place used to be a forum of social and political debate.

Now its just a hub of personalities begging for recognition from weasels and hornets.

The problem is that retorts and debate require a substantive point of contention. "The last third was some of the most excruciating bullsh*t I've ever allowed myself to sit through" is just a bunch of words. You haven't made an argument.

So that's what you're looking for? a retort?

Either way, I doubt that a thread about Ted is the best way to ignite a social and/or political debate. And I think you agree on that one.

No^^^ I listened to the radio.

Its social and political because I need to understand why so many people paid 10 bucks for a story that sucked a bucket load of deeks.

It was basically Willard but with a bear instead of a dog - and not as funny. Many many wasted moments and lost comic ones. Actually got too soppy. Five Year Engagement was a lot funnier on every level.

I thought Ted was fairly funny. Well, funnier than I was expecting. The wife and I laughed at it more than I thought we would as we are not huge Seth fans by any stretch of the imagination.

I'd give it a 7.5/10 when I was expecting a 6/10 at best. I actually LIKED that they didn't go for a full 360 on their relationship. It would have seemed disingenuous for there to be a total falling out between a boy and his bear. They handled the rockiness of their bromance just fine.

Is the last third REALLY that bad? Seriously, is it really some of the most excruciating bull**** you have EVER witnessed in a movie? Sure it's formulaic and a little hamstrung, but I think the old slightly modified RT standby retort works:

See more ("bad") movies.

Well coming from a guy who questioned how it was making money before he even saw it, I don't value your opinion that much. Also, I assume you hate Family Guy so obviously you're not going to like a movie made by the same guy. Herp derp.

Is it just me or don't most comedies trip up in the 3rd act? It's when they have to pretty much wrap up the story, which usually has to involve something sappy. I haven't seen it yet but I plan to as soon as it's released.

I've watched maybe 15 films a year for the last 6 or 7 years. So yes. it was excruciating.

1. My speculating on how this movie made so much money turned out to be prosperous and valid, you should value it.

2. I've never seen more than 15 minutes of family guy. Ever.

Is it like "Ted"?!

You seem very obsessed with a film you care so little about. Also, 15 movies a year is not very many.

1. It had an aggressive marketing campaign.
2. The trailers promised funny stuff.
3. The concept itself was very intriguing.
4. People like Marky Mark.
