Have you ever fast-forwarded though a movie...

on the first viewing?

I'm not ashamed to admit that I've done this before... out of sheer boredom. Most recently: Select the black box below with your cursor to view the spoiler text
The House of the Devil (2009)

If so, name the movie. If not, scold those who have.

I've never even considered it, and I'm amazed how often people on the internet reference it.

If it gets to that point of boredom, I'd just stop watching.

No, and I generally dismiss anyone's criticism for said film if they do.

I think I might've during Ang Lee's Hulk on VHS back in the day... I was still at an age where patience was not a virtue.

Nowadays I'll gladly take 2-3 days for a casual rewatch (i.e. any movie in my collection, not Hulk) with no shame. I guess the internet has killed my patience to sit in front of a movie a couple hours a day at a time, couple days a working week.

I've never done it.

I mean, I've flashforward to see a certain part if it's a movie I've already seen, but that's it.

I tend to avoid doing anything that would then nullify my opinion of a movie like fastforwarding or turning it off.

All the time for horror films. Who wants to see people walking around the dark for 20 minutes just for some stupid cat to jump out?

90% of the time the horror movie turns out to be terrible anyways.

Yes.

If I watch a movie that's just ridiculously stupid and boring but not in a funny way, I'll end up fast forwarding it. I usually just stop the movie it a few seconds later because that's never a good sign. Examples include The Fog remake, which I fast forwarded by about 45 minutes because it never got to what it was supposed to be about until the last 20 minutes.

That's pretty rare, though.

Metropolis (the silent film, not the anime film). Of course, since there's nothing to hear and all the dialogue is displayed on screen, it's actually not that hard to watch it fast.

Oh yeah. All the time. Recently I can name Iron Sky and Casa De Mi Padre but there have been others. There's way too crappy movies out there. You don't have to give them all a chance.

P.S. I watched House of the Devil all the way through.

I do it with NetFlix movies a lot. It's usually with movies that I don't really care to see anyway, but I'm curious to find out if it's as bad as it looks. Because most movies on NetFlix aren't worth sitting through. In fact, that should be their slogan.

The Last Days of Disco (Stillman '98): This is a medium-depth movie about shallow people. Sevigny is OK. But Meh. - 6.0
Batman: Under the Red Hood (Vietti '10): Sort of what I thought Year One would be like, but wasn't. Standard fare. - 6.0
The Desert Fox (Hathaway '51): Very good, if brief, historical bio-pic about one of the most interesting WW2 figures. - 8.0
Malena (Tornatore '00): Beautifully shot, but wildly tonally inconsistet. Mix of 'Summer of '42' and 'Dogville'. Interesting, flawed. - 7.0
Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Season 3
(Various, 99): Yes, it does keep getting better. Last half was really excellent. - 8.5

Eh, it's an OK movie. Not great by any means but a passable action flick.

It is true, however, that Halle Barry's boobies are a major attraction.

I usually fast forward through old porn movies. The dialogue and situations are just horrendous. You just want to see the sex scenes anways. Back when all the actors were coked up and enjoying themselves.

There will be times when a silent film is so boring or unfunny that I'll watch some of it on 2 speed. This way you can still read everything. I could not see myself doing this for an expressionist film. Everything is usually worth seeing and hearing.

I was watching Killer Joe with my mom and she requested that we fast-forward through the sex scene with the mentally-challenged teenager.

It's funny that people would criticize fast-forwarders and even go as far to say they have no business watching movies if they do so.

If anything, your willingness to sit through something awful means YOU should be the one who isn't watching movies.

I'd never even fast forward on any second viewing man, that's pretty lame if you ask me.

VERY often, but only when I'm streaming - this allows me to chew through a lot of movies I only have moderate interest in (usually horror stuff) on Netflix, but not waste too much time on stuff that clearly isn't worth it.

Fast forwarding is a sin. I imagine this means my girlfriend, who is unwilling to ever watch any scene that causes her stress, will clearly be going to Hell.

Fast forwarded through all of the musical parts of 2001. Now they're my favorite parts.
