I really love dark, violent, adult-oriented animes like Berserk, Elfen Lied, Serial Lain, etc. Can you guys throw out some suggestions for other series I might like?

I enjoyed Escaflowne, Paranoia Agent, Kenshin....I dropped out of Champloo, 12 Kingdoms, and Bleach..... got bored.

I like animes that have big, awesome plots, like Berserk and Escaflowne.

For bloodiest and most violent, the first thing that comes to mind is Fist of the North Star. You could also peruse some of the goro sites and find some really gory stuff there.

Yeah, it sure does. But, that is what's funny about it. I would like it if it DID NOT have that sexual shiit and just concentrated on the action and story of the war between humans, demons, etc.

texhnolyze was explicitly violent but, with the exception of the first film, the sexuality was fairly organic (pardon the pun), and non-pornographic.
It has a detached feel to it, much like the sex in Stanley Kubrick's films.

I'm not looking for hentai, I'm just looking for "R-rated" type adult stories and content. I mean, Berserk barely has any nudity, but it's still my favorite of all time.

Oh well if it sucks, no bother downloading. i DL'd battle girl alita, the OVA, and it sucked, IMO.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, ARIA, Kodocha...

Sorry, sorry, I jest. Come to think of it, most of the anime I watch has fairly little violence... I guess Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is pretty gory, but it doesn't have any nudity. Well, nudity in anime is pretty limited, since Japan requires full-frontal nudity to be censored.

If you're willing to check out manga, maybe give Angel Sanctuary a try. It has a very extensive story with a fair share of violence and bizarre sexual situations.

My understanding is that this is only when it involves real people; anime and manga don't necessarily hold to the same constraint.

Uninteresting story. Annoying, dull characters. Pointless sex scenes. Basically nothing redeeming whatsoever.

Oh, and even if all of that had been fixed, it would still be too short.

MD-GEIST is a really cool 80s anime thats around an hour long

its famous for the armor that geist wears in the ending battle

it has a lot of blood and some boobies but no sex so it should work for ya

the new fist of the north star is very bloody

who doesn't like seeing heads explode i know i do

Okay, after doing some reading on the ever trustworthy Wikipedia (*cough*), it appears that full-frontal nudity has to be censored in Japan, so it's usually uncensored when it's brought over to the U.S.

Now I thought it was always penetration that they censored out. I think it also deals with showing pubic hair.

Perfect Blue got away with pubic hair, but it was a rare case. Penetration, I believe, it always censored.

I've only seen one episode of it, but Afro Samurai was pretty bloody and adult themed.
