New Community Features

So the new Community features are finally here!

We've done a lot of testing over the past several months, but we know that there are always a few things that inevitably get overlooked. Here is where you can tell us what you think is working, what you think is broken, and anything else that comes to mind about the update.

Chime in below, and we promise we will read and consider every thoughtful piece of input. Thanks for being loyal RTers, and we hope you enjoy our new Community!

Ryan,

Your post is has a lot of unreadable text up top. You should probably edit it away.

How about re-instating the individual movie forums? Sucks having those threads mixed in with everything else in the GD section.....

Re-enabling the "My Critics" feature is an obvious but still unfulfilled suggestion.

It's been a long time since I've visited the RT forums. I was almost lost trying to find a film's own forum page like the old format! I'll miss that, but this will do I suppose. I assume the old posts have been integrated.

I would highly suggest (although I know this will be ignored it always is) that you re-instate the little bars under an RT friends information that tell you how much he agrees with you, the community, the tomatometer, and favorites.

Lightbulb Where's the old format?

Dude, the whole reason why us intelligent REAL RT critics of the community are leaving is because of RT's merge with Flixster also known as making a deal with the devil, unless of course you can change the format. Here are a few suggestions:

Throw away the starch and get some real vegetation; in other words, the bucket of popcorn on the homepage has got to go and our old tomato needs to make a comeback(or call it, Flixter's "Stale Popcorn," but if you do that we will probably never come back.)

Where are the critic's ratings? We want to know what a certain critic gave a certain movie. What the hell happened with that?

What I'm mainly saying is: Give us back our old format.

I hope this notice has gotten your attention. And if it did and you really are going to help us then, thank you.

Your Friend,

TCJ

That is one thing they really should bring back. It made this site so much more interesting until flixster came around and made it worst. Flixster please stop ignoring us and listen to us for once in your lives: FIX THE PROBLEMS. Don't just brush them off your shoulders.

Post Dates

This is something that changed at least 6 months ago, maybe more: It used to be that if I updated a review, it retained its original post date. Not so anymore. Now if I happen to notice a typo on something I wrote a while ago, I dare not fix it or it will move to the top of the list since the date is updated. Upated reviews should retain their original post dates, not be treated like brand new reviews!

if you want to make the site better, bring back two things:
The information showing how much you agree with critics, friends, wtc.
The option on film pages to see the reviews all your friends have made on that film

Angry complete reset

Reset the site back about five years. Seriously, this place used to be awesome and gets worse with every update. Which users are encouraging this direction? No customization of movie review blog, can't see friends reviews of a particular movie anymore, character limits on comments of reviews, spam bots fill the forums, site is difficult to navigate and butt ugly and everything that's been said above. It's like you all are doing the opposite of everything we say. Send your pointy haired boss back to the Dilbert universe and hire someone that will listen to us. If anyone made plugins for Wordpress or Blogger that could interact with IMDB, the RT critic's databases of movie reviews and other friends blogs to duplicate the basic functions that made RT great, I think at this point I'd be willing to pay for those plugins as crappy as RT has become.
